This staircase chart of the nuclides at MIT is very [chef's kiss]

Si vous avez besoin d'isotopes spécifiques pour vos projets perso, radioactifs ou non, vous pouvez passer commande au Grand Accélérateur National d'Ions Lourd.
Moi jme prendrai bien 1kg de Krypton 79.

New version of my nuclide chart, with main decay modes. This time only with data provided by the mendeleev #Python library. The pandas library was of valuable help.

Them: Really, it's not an issue?
Me: This is the beauty of a broad scope license. As long as you don't want to build a reactor or an radioisotope production accelerator, we're authorized for the entire Chart of the Nuclides.
Them: The WHOLE thing?
Me: This is our Manhattan Project privilege showing.

Samping boulders in Ruby Range Yukon to date it with terrestrial cosmogenic nuclides, 10 Be to be specific. We suspect this was deposited a glacier about 15000 years ago.

Spontaneous fission half-life of various nuclides depending on their Z2/A ratio. Nuclides of the same element are linked with a red line. The green line shows the upper limit of half-life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hurra! Dominiks 1st first-author paper published in PRC. Technetium paper #10 since starting Tc chemistry & lifetime goal reached: recolouring 1 field of the chart of nuclides. @unicologne.bsky.social @chemunicologne.bsky.social 🧪

I present: the sexier periodic table

yeah, babium, that's it, show me your isotopes, ooh yeah just like that

Reminder to new users here:

Isotopes always refer to two or more different nuclides of the same element. Otherwise, refer to them as nuclides, not isotopes.

Gotta burn through all the lighter nuclides first.

Exciting talk by @romangarba.bsky.social on cosmogenic nuclides for dating prehistoric sites - fabulous work at #Korolevo (western #Ukraine) and East-to-West dispersal into Europe 1.5-1.3 million years ago. Huge potential for new and old excavations 🤩🤩

suppose you could kill a fundamental part of existence. shoot love. murder pain.

suppose that the world kept on going.

imagine what it might be like to live in a world with something missing. a world with hidden scars. remembering loss without knowing why.

now go look at a table of nuclides.

In a world, where only the rich can afford stable nuclides, one man will bring what's left to you. Will you trust him with your half-life?

tfw ur gf has had this awesome periodic table shower curtain in storage the entire time you've known her and she just forgot to mention it until she was looking through stuff to start moving to ur place and suggested this would look good in ur bathroom

Natural uranium is mostly U-238, with a 4.5 billion yr half-life. A kg of it kicks out 12M alpha particles per second with 4 MeV of energy each, generating 8 microwatts of ionizing radiation. It's not super hazardous, and you can hold it in the palm of your hand with a glove.

And some of them, somehow, have advanced physics, chemistry, and engineering degrees. I will never forget the YEC who quite literally had a Chart of the Nuclides staring him in the face as he explained the half lives are fine but the isotopic abundances were set Day 1.
