The Leafs deciding to market themselves by having Nylander say “it’s always about the fuckin Leafs” is the first good thing they’ve done in my entire life

Looking like the Leafs decided to embrace the hate.

Nylander: "It's about the fucken Leafs."

The media have tried to trade Nylander for all the typical reasons—Swedish, “soft”, contract holdouts—but I don’t remember ever seeing reporting on a real potential trade involving him the way there was for Knies to TBL in 2022, MTL last year, and now the actual deal.

“They always complain, it’s about the f##king Leafs.”
- William Nylander

My favourite part about the video is:

THEY ALWAYS COMPLAIN ITS ALWAYS ABOUT THE FUCKIN LEAFS -- Willie Nylander

I’m pretty indifferent on that frankly. Marchenko and Nylander sound pretty similar.

I think the question is whether it’s Matthews-Marchenko or Matthews-Nylander
September 29, 2026 at 3:47 PM
Even at his peak he’s never been that guy. He always had Nylander or Marner riding shotgun.

I dont think the solution is to play Marchenko or Nylander or whoever on the 3rd line, the solution would have been to find more offensive 3rd line players but alas.
Also Kessel played4th most minutes in 2017 at 5on 5 among Pens forwards. He was moved up the lineup a lot. Most common C was Malkin!

It's a function of their roster building. Putting Nylander (or Marchenko/McKenna/Cowan) on a 3rd line to mimic the Canes or Penguins Cups is just asking them to fail while also weakening the Tavares line. As built this team is a top 6/bottom 6 team and will go as far as the top 6 take them

the leafs currently have like 4 guys who can absolutely rip it at an elite level now, a power play of McKenna-Matthews-Marchenk with Nylander and Raddysh would be a hell of a thing

Annual hockey pool post: Marner, Nylander, Bedard, M. Tkachuk, Batherson, Ehlers, Peterka, Lafreniere, Doan, Coronato, McMichael, Dunn.

Who is next? Nylander? 😂 #leafs #nhl

“So we can ice a powerplay unit of Matthews, Nylander, Marchenko and Tavares with Raddysh point bombs and that’s not even counting McKenna”
September 29, 2026 at 12:31 AM
I still want Willie at center.
It won't happen but....
Tavares Matthews Marchenko
McKenna Nylander Roskovic

It's Nylander over Ritchie again!
September 28, 2026 at 10:10 PM
I had Cowan on the line with Tavares and Nylander. Who else is a top 6 LW?
September 28, 2026 at 10:09 PM
oh yea, on a strictly goals in v out i think this is a pretty decent move for the leafs, but they are 100% gonna struggle with the wendel clark crowd. I also think that they've basically added another guy who does things that guys like Matthews and Nylander do well at the expense of somthing lacking
September 28, 2026 at 10:00 PM
watching some Marchenko highlights and he seems to be a (good) distance scorer, which is nice and all, but swapping him for Knies, who generated most of his stuff from inside the hashmarks seems to open up an issue for the leafs
who is gonna get the greasy ones? Nylander?
September 28, 2026 at 9:59 PM
Bunting Matthews Marchenko
McKenna Tavares Nylander
September 28, 2026 at 9:48 PM
I was feeling sad as I'm a big Knies guy but then I looked at my advanced player evaluation model and it says Marchenko is the 4th best forward (Matthews, Nylander, McKenna) in the world
September 28, 2026 at 9:37 PM
The Leafs have changed essentially their entire offense, outside of Matthews, Nylander, and Tavares.

If they fail miserably again, it's gotta be Matthews who takes the blame finally, right?
September 28, 2026 at 9:28 PM
He got Nylander money, basically.
