Was it from the TV series itself or possibly from the movie/OAVs? 🤔 All of mine are TV-specific and the only other one I can think of that might come close is Rouya based on the romanization, but that's primarily guitar, not piano.

Thinking about it, 90's comics had a lot of supernatural or demonic characters pop up at the time. Ghost Rider returned, The Demon had his longest series run, The Crow, Spawn, Lady Death, Evil Ernie and the Chaos Comix line, Danzig's Santanika, Go Nagai Devilman OAVs were on Blockbuster shelves...
After the Crow, I figured "undead or supernatural anti-heroes based on a comic" was a good theme for a Halloween film marathon.
Tried to watch edgy Temu Spawn variant: "Faust: Love of The Damned" (2000) because I hadn't seen it in full.
1/2 hour in, I'm gonna put on Ghost Rider instead, lol.

Reminder that Mendo's father is a WEIRD ASS and I REALLY wish we were closer to the Goat & Cheese OVA because it would have been PERFECT for the Halloween season (actually similar to the later Ranma OAVs, UY has a bunch of Spooky Season themed OVAs)

Maybe something like the old business model of making and selling OAVs, although those were usually famously done on a low budget and looked like it

Still only seen A-Ko out of all of these, though funnily enough, it was actually 3 I had seen first. I didn't realize the music was even from the first A-Ko until years later when I finally watched the rest of the OAVs.

Also thanks @sharkabytes.bsky.social for the news about the Gradius OAVs!!
One of my favorite things about doing this video series is right at the start where @tronknotts.bsky.social asks "did you know they finally made a new Castlevania for you to like?" as if he is asking if you personally are aware of commercialism and if it is effective on you.

But it's not just Ranma. I'm bringing Inuyasha and RINNE into this conversation too. UY's advantage over the OG Ranma anime is we're 29-ish volumes of 34 deep compared to Ranma 1/2 TV which adapted 22 out of 38 volumes. The OVAs and Movie 5 covered a LOT of 29-34 while the Ranma 1/2 OAVs did less.

Indeed. But Assembler was cute, not like Zeppelinko Compiler. Which was OAVs, manga and those drama CDs.
I think I went to that event, probably have photos somewhere.
There's also, "Ai ga tomaranai." manga. and what else?

Also the English dubbed voice of Ryo-Ohki in the Tenchi Muyo! OAVs. That's where I know her from.

Tenchi Muyo was my entry point into anime. Gotta love a series that's 7 oavs (canon), a TV series (not canon), a movie (not canon), another TV series (not canon), six more oavs (canon), two more movies (not canon), and a spinoff (canon)

Too hard to pick 9! I didn't even mention some of my favorite OVAs/OAVs like Demon City Shinjuku, 8Man After, Vampire Hunter D, Shadow Skill, Lily CAT.
How'd I forget Bubble Gum Crisis, Tenchi Muyo, Please Save My Earth, Record of Lodoss War?
I'm going to stop before I keep typing all night 😂
