[ #ffxiv • #oc:yasha • #oc:tobin • #🎬 #✒️ ]
tobin appears focused as he receives his assignment. yasha watches the conversation unfold. text: So the Yellowjackets are too busy with the Sahagin to follow up on the pirate sightings. That can’t really be helped; Yasha has had to fend off the odd Amalj’aa that managed to slip by the Flames’ patrols himself, and it seems Thanalan isn’t the only region struggling with increased aggression from the beast tribes. Little solace to the pirates’ victims, however. “Thus I sought the services of a competent adventurer to conduct an investigation in our stead,” Reyner finishes. “Any aid you can offer in this matter would be greatly appreciated.” Yasha shifts his gaze ever so slightly to rest more on the adventurer. He doesn’t look out of the ordinary. Yet it sounds like Baderon knew of him before he arrived, and what he knew of him was enough to be confident that he was the right person for the task. The adventurer has been quiet for most of the exchange, taking in their words with an attentive expression and only the slightest furrow in his brow. Now he nods and says, “Of course. I can leave right away, if you’d like.”

the huge height difference was a surprise. as per lore, yasha is shorter than the average au'ra (6'1) due to his father being a hyur. he's at the lowest height for the male model but still towers

You have the look of someone whose thoughts have kept them awake all night.” “How perceptive.” Thancred’s eyes crinkle. “Pray do not concern yourself with my welfare. My current investigation has yielded some curious results, and at present I am pondering how best to proceed.” “What have you found?” “Shadows…whispers. An image is revealing itself, though it is not yet clear enough to act upon.” “More than smoke and mirrors, I hope,” Yasha murmurs. “If you do have a moment to rest before heading out again, you should take it. The Scions need your strength.” “If you insist,” Thancred says, tilting his head in deference. “You had best be going while it is still light—but do take care, Yasha. "I’ve heard mentions of them before. Though I would have thought that after the Calamity, they had no reason to be active." "What do they do?" "No one knows for sure. They’re usually blamed when a person goes missing, especially if someone in a red robe was seen in the area. But that could just as easily be the work of the Ixal." Tobin goes quiet for a moment. His gaze is unfocused, retreating to someplace in his mind. When he speaks, the words come in an even softer tone. "The Tam-Tara Deepcroft is a special place for everyone in the Black Shroud. Our families lie there. If it’s been desecrated by these cultists, then…" He raises his head and locks eyes with Yasha. Light spills from the window panes behind him. In such a dim space, it’s nearly blinding. "If you’re still willing, I would ask for your strength again." Yasha doesn’t hesitate. "You have it."
