There's no public "venture debt" ecosystem to derisk the commercialization of these pilot technologies. Without it, these firms would lose their shirts trying to get pre-NTP and construction financing. OCED/MESC/LPO were helpful fixes but had their limits.

Ironically, I think the OCED H2 hubs had the right idea, even if we used it on the wrong technology and trying to raise too many regions at once. It should have focused strictly on the Gulf Coast and California.

I think it’s to make the US look like a more extreme outlier relative to others, because OCED members in Latin America have higher incarceration rates than Europe but still a lot less than the US.

I don't know if Slate doesn't do charts, but this article could use a good chart with say OCED average and US mortality rate for 25-44 from 1980 to 2023 or whatnot. This maternal mortality chart is similar to what I would imagine.

I wish I knew that when I got OCed for training in active duty but passing this along to those who need it
when i got married last month, i made a little joke in my wedding vows about how i fell in love the weekend i had to wash my hair with dish soap five times to get the pepper spray out of it. nobody laughed but hopefully they learned something - dawn really does cut through the oil in OC spray.
