Great to see so many people using ODC STAC to load Items as an Xarray. So cool.

Oh yep, #GEE is a great option too!

The beauty of #STAC + #odc-stac though is that it's fully #opensource and can be run anywhere you have Python: no accounts/logins/setup needed. And really nice flexibility for being able to combine data from multiple catalogues, e.g. #PlanetaryComputer + #DEA etc

Wow, rio-stac-io looks awesome! github.com/planetlabs/r...

Anyone have a chance to compare this to the odc-stac approach? ( @mdsumner.bsky.social 👀 ?)

odc-stac Sentinel-5p netcdf not downloading
I'm trying to access Sentinel-5p L2 methane data via the Copernicus STAC using odc-stac: import pystac_client import odc.stac import rioxarray as rxr import xarray as xr os.environ['AWS_S3_ENDPOINT'] = 'eodata.dataspace.copernicus.eu' os.environ['AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID'] = os.environ['AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY'] = os.environ['AWS_HTTPS'] = 'YES' os.environ['AWS_VIRTUAL_HOSTING'] = 'FALSE' URL = "https://stac.dataspace.copernicus.eu/v1" catalog = pystac_client.Client.open(URL) catalog.add_conforms_to("ITEM_SEARCH") collection = catalog.get_collection('sentinel-5p-l2-ch4-rpro') lon_min = 112 lon_max = 114 lat_min = 17.5 lat_max = 18.5 aoi = { "type": "Polygon", "coordinates": [[ [lon_min, lat_min], [lon_max, lat_min], [lon_max, lat_max], [lon_min, lat_max], [lon_min, lat_min] ]] } search = catalog.search( collections=cid, intersects=aoi, datetime="2024" ) ds = odc.stac.load( items, geopolygon=aoi, resolution=500, crs="EPSG:32751" ) Initially this was producing a gdal DLL error: RasterioIOError: Can't load requested DLL: C:\Users\glens\miniconda3\envs\general/Library/lib/gdalplugins\gdal_HDF5.dll 127: The specified procedure could not be found. so I created a new conda environment with conda create -c conda-forge -n nc4 python=3.12 libgdal-hdf5 rasterio Using the new environment I get no gdal error but the dataset from odc.stac.load is completely empty. There are items found: [, , ... , ] which are netcdf files: list(items[0].assets.values())[0].href 's3://eodata/Sentinel-5P/TROPOMI/L2__CH4___/2024/11/29/S5P_RPRO_L2__CH4____20241129T185012_20241129T203340_36950_03_020800_20250904T102554.nc' so it's not that nothing is being requested.
