It's the "exactly" in that one that kills me. Either Wilson has the greatest memory in history for line deliveries from many years ago, or the OFITG team all sat around watching Dr Who tapes in the BBC archives desperately crying out "there's got to be SOMETHING we can use!"

I’ve often heard people express surprise that the actors are both Scottish and not English and that originally confused me because I used to wonder when on OFITG are they going to mention being Scottish but it’s because she loses her temper exactly like my Scottish mum does.

I think it took me a while when OFITG was first broadcast - I was a young teenager living near London - to realise and then, when you notice it, you wonder how you ever didn't. What's more baffling, in retrospect, is how Timothy Lumsden lived in England with his English parents but was Scottish.

OFITG is too spiky to be a Nice Sitcom imo but you're right, the Meldrews in particular are fundamentally good people.
