#OFMD #OFMDRBB The last drawing for the big finale!

Fun fact that I need to point out (bc I'm stupid & didn't realise it'll only be visible when the fic is read on a desktop/laptop while adding my artworks in): all three of my RBB artworks build one coherent picture together!

#ofmd #ofmdart #ofmdrbb #taketwotuesday
A big picture made of three individual watercolour artworks. 1. is in blue and purple tones, showing the characters Ivan and Fang from the series Our Flag means death in a surreal, dreamy setting, illustrating a vision. Ivan’s head is visible in profile. He’s drawn in white lines, with his features like the moon tattoo on the side of his head being a part of the nightly sky, surrounded by stars and a strand of hair turning into clouds. A fluffy white cloud drifts towards the edge of the picture. Ivan’s shoulders descend into hills, turning into ocean. Old ruins built out of white stone (a crumbling bridge and several buildings with domed roofs and towers) stand in the mostly calm ocean. On the water, Fang sits in a very small rowing boat, with his back to the viewer, looking over his shoulder. 2. in mostly red and earthy tones, showing the character Buttons from the series Our Flag means death in a surreal, dreamy setting, illustrating a vision. Buttons, standing on crumbling white stones on a sandbank set in an ocean with small waves, is looking like a statue, turned to the viewer. He is holding a round orb with a sun and waves above his head. A bird flies towards him through a sky changing from blue to red. Two halves of distorted looking clouds are set to the opposite edges of the image. The background is sandy hills, white ruins and the ocean. Two skeletons sit leaned against the wall on the sandbank, wearing leather clothing. The design of the clothes suggest these are Fang and Edward Teach. 3. in blue and green tones, showing the characters Izzy Hands and Edward Teach from the series Our Flag means death in a surreal, dreamy setting, illustrating a vision. Izzy’s head is drawn in profile. He’s drawn in white lines, with his features like the polaris or x tattoo on his cheek being a part of the nightly sky, surrounded by stars and meandering bright green polar lights. His neck and collar bones fade into an icy polar landscape and ocean.

Third piece for our RBB is Ed's vision! Y'all have no idea how much I cursed the waves while drawing, but @anhaga9.bsky.social wrote Ed's longing for connection & Izzy's reluctance to let him close (again) beautifully, so it was worth it

Watercolour drawing in blue and green tones, showing the characters Izzy Hands and Edward Teach from the series Our Flag means death in a surreal, dreamy setting, illustrating a vision. A white tower with lights on inside stands on the ice, not far from a cliff. Agitated blue-green waves crash against the cliff, making the ocean impossible to cross for Edward, who stands on another shelf, looking towards the tower and Izzy in the sky. Snip of the fix, reading: And through the monsters ran the River, rippling and beckoning. By its banks Argo the Silver Ship awaited him. But Ed could not sail alone, not anymore, not when he had enjoyed the barest glimpse of an alternative. “Izzy,” he called out into the night. The tower’s beam swept round once more. “Keep away,” it warned, revealing the coast’s perils. But a lighthouse could be a landmark, too, Ed knew, something by which a navigator might plot a course. “Izzy,” he cried again, more desperately. And the clouds began to sway, to dance in whirling spirals of light and color, shimmering with red, green, blue, purple. They cast green glimmering flashes among the white caps of the icy sea. “Izzy,” Ed sighed. He raised his arms to the watching, waiting sky.

In the familiar words that built his power, and bound it. “I am the seventh son of seventh son. Mine is the knowledge of the swift salmon in the shallow pool. “Mine is the power of the night, the power of dream, of prophecy. I call now, I draw upon this day’s darkness. I weave threads of absent moonlight. I tether dream and memory. Listen now, elements, to my call, as I sing of the land lost and found, and returning now to heal the broken world. “I am the sea-blast,” he continued, intoning the past into the present and the future. “I am the tidal surge rippling the thundering surf. I am the sea’s roar, the surging sea wave. I am the flood cresting over the plain, over the drowned world. I am the wind sweeping tranquil waters.

The sky was cloudless and dark save for the moon’s waning crescent and the stars glimmering above the empty and abandoned ruins. Above him there faint, watery Aquarius filled a cup from the river Eridanus. Poseidon’s son, Orion, hunted the celestial bull, his dogs running beside him, loyal even in following their dead master into the skies. So much loss, Fang thought, in the stories the stars told. Stellification was supposed to be a reward for heroism, sacrifice, unrelenting love. But it was still loss. Above him the starry river flowed into a sky-sea where Cetus and Pisces and Delphinus swam in moon-touched waters. Below him the waters in which he floated flowed out towards an uncertain future. Fang felt the glittering glory of the stars. But he felt too the dark grief of the moon’s vanishing.

A collage consisting of three Watercolour drawings and a textbox. The first image on top shows a red sky with faint stars to the left and a cloud to the right. In the middle, the character Buttons from the series Our Flag means Death, looking like a stone statue, is holding up the sun and ocean. A bird flies towards him. A white box with text reading “What Dreams May Come”, “words by Lwwyrd”, “art by hideplueshi” separates the top image from the two bottom ones. Left image shows the character Edward Teach from the series Our Flag means Death in front of green-blue waves, the right one shows the character Fang sitting in a small rowing boat on purple-blue ocean. A crescent moon reflects in the water. Screenshot of summary, reading: What Dreams May Come hideplueshi, Lwwyrd Summary: The sailors' graveyard of the Sargasso Sea.... The Bermuda Triangle.... Atlantis.... And a total solar eclipse impending.... With a sea witch on board.... But perhaps the most perilous part of Ed Teach's scientific expedition is finding his guiding star and falling in love... Modern AU

I am SO over the moon excited to share with you Fringe Benefits, my RBB with @babykraken.bsky.social. What if Ed had bangs? And a sentient porcupinefish to guide him through his breakup? You can't miss BK's art here, it's incredible! archiveofourown.org/works/67955006 #ofmdRBB #ofmdfic
A title card for a fanfic. The title of the fic is Fringe Benefits, by Baby_kraken and Shieldmaidenofmithrilhall. It's for the OFMD Reverse Big Bang 2025 and rated T, 7,600 words. The image is of a sad looking Ed with bangs looking at the porcupinefish that is on his shoulder like a parrot.

(3) There are great tips in the artist FAQ for creating an appealing slide! An important one: Writers are often drawn to prompts with a hook rather than a perfectly finished art piece - put some thought into a story prompt that might make ideas flow for a writer.
