On this day in 1975, the Edmund Fitzgerald went down in a monster storm on Lake Superior, along with all 29 crewmen. She was en route to Detroit.

The Fitz was an ore ship, operated by Oglebay Norton Co. of Cleveland. She was a frequent visitor here.
