What do you mean they have 64 Terabytes of RAM?
Then I have an (actual) theory. What if some guy (or group of guys) named Yolk found a weakness in OmniOS and exploited it to hack into systems? Then they tried to kidnap Skitty before Omnisoft locked them out.

Linux is my daily driver, I run a Solaris derivative for my home hypervisors (OmniOS), and I still don’t have the patience for Mastodon.
Mastodon is the Linux of social media platforms — it works fine if you're a software developer and are comfortable installing a custom operating system
back in 2022, lots of Twitter users migrated to Mastodon. most all did not continue using the service
in 2024 we're seeing big sign-ups for Bluesky. lots of reasons to believe it'll be different (I'll be watching!)

Today in fun wild unix things: OmniOS (SunOS/Illumos distribution):
The kernel is 64bit, half of the OS tools are 32bit, the other half is 64bit, getconf LONG_BIT returns 32, gcc builds 64bit binaries, and uname -m return i86pc.

In other news, I’m trying out OmniOS r151054
think there’s a bug in Netplan that’s fucking with VLANs above 512 with libvirt. I don’t have time/resources to investigate so I moved the VM to bhyve on OmniOS instead 🤷♂️

Anyone interested in a short blog post on setting this up on OmniOS? Might write it up anyways since the blogs been kinda dead for awhile.
Just setup dufs (WebDAV) in an illumos zone and pointed @obsidian.md and my @supernote.com at it. Cool, now all of devices have a place to sync that’s not the public cloud and zrepl backs up the data locally and remotely.
