CBO analysis: The Iran war has cost the U.S. $38 billion as of August 1.

Diesel doesn't seem very price elastic! The mechanism for diesel consumption going down in the US is ... guys with diesel pickups driving less? Freight mode shift to rail (or air lol)? Less freight overall? Farmers leaving crops to rot in the fields?

I'm generally a Bernie fan but this just quackery.
IMO the progressive opinion should be that:
1. workers and people benefit from the advancement of AI
2. data centers are regulated to be fully renewable and add power/stability to grids
3. etc

I had Claude look at the demographic swing in the NYT/Siena polls comparing October 2024 Harris/Trump to today's. Biggest swings are 18-29/30-44, Hispanic, Asian, non-college, smallest swings are Black, college white, northeast, 65+: @peark.es @wertwhile.bsky.social @michaelcaley.bsky.social
