Baby hyenas are adorable but I love them most in their toddler months. The cub on the left is about 4-5 weeks and the cutie on the right is 4-7 months old.

Our morning started with a young Black-backed Jackal running up the road ahead of us. It just kept going and going, until it finally moved off into the grass. It only stopped once to have a look at some Guineafowl, but couldn’t be bothered.

A sweet male steenbok looking back at me. We came back to our cabin to find a bushbuck laying against the wall out back. She stayed for a while, watching us. A small spider, thankfully on an outside wall. I put water out hoping to attract birds. A small vervet monkey was the only one to come for drink.

It’s like sandpaper: A lion’s tongue is covered with tiny, backward-facing spines called papillae, which are incredibly rough. These spines help lions strip meat from bones and groom themselves (or each other) efficiently.
It can clean a carcass to the bone
