With the recent release of Java/OpenJDK 27 I began some fresh benchmarks in not having looked at the OpenJDK Java performance in a few years. Carried away, I ended up re-testing all the major OpenJDK versions going back to the venerable JDK 8.

Working on OpenJDK for Android: in 43 seconds, I run an app on my phone, make a change in OpenJDK (change dlllookup into dll_lookup), rebuild OpenJDK, link it with my app, push to my phone, run again.
OpenJDK development is extremely efficient.

OpenJDK Interim Policy on Generative AI: openjdk.org/legal/ai. This aligns with my experience using GenAI tools: they are good at grasping some dusty context corners, but for surgical OpenJDK work you need to absolutely own every single line you push into the project.
I can now run HelloFX on an iPhone. This required only really minor changes to OpenJFX and OpenJDK, and I'll update github.com/openjdk-mobi... as soon as I find some time. Most of the work (> 99%) went into understanding the tons of options in XCode.
