My job is pretty much fixing all the cockups made on the project. Today I learnt that if you have a linked server and you create a view that runs an openquery on that server and they change the number of fields in the table, you have to run alter view, even though the view doesn’t actually change.

CETAS on Azure Managed Instance is so nice, especially coupled with OPENQUERY so that you can archive from an Azure SQL DB as well. Some of the bits are honestly a bit wonky, but it’s incredibly freeing.
