U.S. megacorps dump mountains of cash into AI, get shown up by a Chinese startup operating at a tiny fraction of the cost, and this guy's takeaway is we need to invest even more in this money pit rather than that our corporations are corrupt. Cool!
The DeepSeek announcement from China has been called by some AI’s “Sputnik moment” for America.

It’s precisely why I made AI a top priority in the last Congress and will keep at it.

The thing to understand about fascism is that most people you know will be bought off. Bought with promises of peace and stability, bought with business opportunities or paid with actual cash. Most people aren't going to resist. Get used to it and get used to operating in that environment.

I'm supposed to say SpaceX was profitable in 2024, but it wasn't, that $791M profit included a $659M non-cash tax benefit, fully reversed in 2025.
Operating income: +$466M ('24), -$2.6B ('25), -$1.9B (Q1 '26).
Net loss: $4.9B last year, $4.3B in Q1 2026 alone, all to poison Black neighborhoods.

Corporate Welfare.

UK govts subsidise gas, oil, wind, solar, coal, biomass companies with cash and/or tax breaks.

Free cash. No means testing. No equity stake, nothing repayable.

Since 2020, 20 energy companies made operating profit of £514bn, shareholders enriched.

We get big energy/tax bills.

There is no means-testing for corporate welfare payments.

While these companies were stupid to continue operating in russia, were they so stupid as to not run with a minimum of cash? 🤔

Amazon's flat operating earnings and plunging free cash flow is the textbook definition of shitty ROI capex.

The ongoing capex surge in the S&P 500 (mostly Tech) continues to produce a big gap between projected (next-12-month, NTM) operating cash flow and free cash flow.

So valuations are somewhat expensive vs history but not bad using operating cash flow, but still very expensive using free cash flow.

We’re still pretending Trump is smart, still pretending the GOP doesn’t gorge on racism, still operating like the msm does bad coverage on accident, still pretending Democrats are cash poor and fighting their best. Insane lies, all of it.

B of A: Our S&P year-end target of 7100 suggests 6% downside ..

Big Tech “cash flow conversion has flat-lined, IG and equity supply has increased, buybacks as a percent
of market cap have slowed and capex as a percent of operating cash flow for
hyperscalers is forecast to reach nearly 100% ..”

Labels bid away each other's margins, depriving themselves of operating capital to find and record new music and starving them of free cash flow to pay to musicians, employees and shareholders.

Next up is cash flow. Higher A/R and higher inventories are both uses of cash; you back both out of net income (accrual accounting) to get to operating cash flow (cash accounting). So this is just a rehash of the points already made. An honest analysis would be transparent about that. This isn’t.

A peaceful way to temporarily starve Trump 2.0 of operating cash. Who do you think is funding the federal government every week?
Here's my idea for the biggest mass peaceful protest in US history. Everyone whose compensation is subject to mandatory withholdings should file an amended W-4 & have $0 income taxes withheld. Trump crippled the IRS & it won't be able to do fuck all about it.
Eliminating mandatory federal withholding on wages will go a long way to leveling the tax paying playing field. Everyone files a quarterly estimate of their tax liability. Conduct online seminars on how to tie up the IRS, register an anon LLC...See where this is going?
