It's mainly accuracy. Morden forks have perfect or near perfect emulation for OPL2/3, Roland MT-32 family, and Sound Canvas. Or 70 fps VGA output. Stuff like that. Plus lots more configuration options, and hardware emulation such as 3Dfx, ReelMagic, etc. Or even better mouse handling.
