it's almost as if prediction markets are somehow less effective at predicting outcomes that can't be front-run by insiders
Some high-speed maths: Polymarket had a bad night as a prediction engine. Every single Democrat [at time of writing] given more than a 40% chance of winning won.

I know of one Iowa voter who is very ok with outcomes this week.
I’ve been working on this one before May of this year.

I am warning you that this story absolutely tore my fucking heart out. Please give it a read, share, whatever you’d like

It’s one of my very last before Election Day 2024 and I’m sorta glad it is www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

feel like the orban money drying up, the iran war, and the collapse of the republicans are going to produce some really interesting outcomes
Laura Loomer announces she’s going on hiatus from her podcast. I think we’re going to find that midterms end up being a mass extinction event for MAGA influencers.

That would be the best of all possible outcomes.
If new Dem states join the National Voter Compact they would have the power to abolish the Electoral College.

Seems tailor made for bad outcomes.

People overcame gerrymandering, intimidation, and billionaire-funded efforts to buy these elections to deliver those outcomes. People beat Elon Musk to do that.

Another outcome I love about tonight — billionaires who thought they could buy election outcomes are being repudiated by American voters.

This is the trap of history - people decide what is possible based on what has already happened. When new things happen, people simply add those things to the list of possible outcomes.

They never consider the deeper truth: THE SET OF POSSIBLE OUTCOMES IS MUCH WIDER THAN OUR IMAGINATION.

this is actually *literally* one of the best outcomes i have seen - the impact that texas has on the education systems all over the country cannot be overstated
THIS JUST IN: Democrats have FLIPPED the Texas State Board of Education!

This is a monumental win for Texas students, families, and the entire education community in our great state.

Congratulations to our incredible candidates!

The $474 million was never the real bet. The real bet was that political outcomes shape the fortunes of companies that live off government contracts and regulation. https://newsletter.platypuseconomics.com/p/why-didnt-elon-musk-spend-more

you'd think that given the election results, mainstream outlets might look for Black columnists from the south or Hispanic columnists from the southwest to explain the outcomes, rather than looking for the same conservative white men who they've been using as go tos for the past decade.

This is one of the possibilities I’m most excited about today. Imagine presidential elections being won by the popular vote.

2000, 2016: both have completely different outcomes.

If we for sure get these state houses, let’s pressure them into more democratic elections!!!
There are now enough states with Dem trifectas to pass the interstate compact on the national popular vote. The end of the Electoral college may be upon us.
