Artists Paintpots, Yellowstone. This milky-chalky pool goes through cycles of activity, making cloudy billows and occasion agitation enough to spew a little whitewash out onto the ground around the vent, resulting in a bright white petticoat.

Mudpot Monday. A closeup of a tiny mudpot vent (Artists Paintpots, Yellowstone) in the middle of a bison track! A bison tromped through, leaving a deep imprint/track in the mud right over a tiny vent, which survived. Drying out locked this scenario in time!

Back from Spielefest/E-Sports-Festival. It was a hoot. So much so that I didn't get to take a single picture. I was mostly busy talking to people, getting them paintpots, work out recipies for dragon skin on the fly and how to make that skeleton warrior look like that thing in Minecraft. It was good

Thermal Thursday at Artists Paintpots, #Yellowstone. An unnamed thermal stream alive with thermophilic communities (filamentous thermophiles, swaying in the flow; mats shaping around debris, etc). Stream is partly the outflow of Blood Geyser, whose vent is reddened by iron oxides.
