killing time before baseball by inventing a bathroom sink that doesn’t look like a yellowstone mudpot 5 seconds after cleaning it from kids spitting toothpaste in it

Mudpot Monday.
#Yellowstone mudpots are fumaroles drowned in surface moisture. When that moisture evaporates what’s left are startlingly geometric cracks and crevices. For me their texture is definitely part of the magic of mudpots!

Timeline cleanse!
This Yellowstone thermal geek observes Mudpot Monday… so, here you go. This is lovely mudpot GAPNN011 in the RCN database. It cycles through moments of agitated bubbly activity with long periods of quiet. Hang out the boardwalk nearby and you might catch a nice bubbly episode.

Mudpot cauldron at Fountain Paintpots at Yellowstone National Park.

Every time a splatter lands outside the cauldron, moisture is lost. Mudpots become more dried out as the summer progresses.

Q3 “Hearing” #parkchat
Parks offer us the rare opportunity to experience natural “soundscapes”: thundering waterfall, grunting bison, chirping meadowlark, quaking aspen, blooping mudpot. What natural sound do you most anticipate hearing when you go to visit your favorite parkland?

At their heart, mudpots are fumaroles drowned in surface water. Now you know.

I observe “Mudpot Monday” so…here you go. Another one of Yellowstone National Park’s amazing mudpots for your enjoyment. It’s a small cone, no more than 8-10” tall, with one active steaming vent. Lots of sulphur deposits around it.
