Bearded Tit Panurus biarmicus, the only member of the family Panuridae.

It's also my nickname!😀

6.a Panuridae

Panuridae means "all tail."

There is exactly one bird in this family, the Bearded reedling. It was originally classified in Paridae (the tits), then as a Paradoxornithidae. But it wasn't actually related to any of these birds.

DNA is a *trip*, y'all.

Voxpop request: Panurus biarmicus is the sole member of the family Panuridae, AviList uses Bearded Reedling (in use since the 19th century) as the English vernacular, BOURC maintains Bearded Tit even though they are more closely related to larks. Should we change the name? #Ornithology #UKBirding 🪶

Agonised about posting this, but Long-tailed Tit is a Bushtit (Aegithalidae) and not one of the true tits (Paridae). Still a lovely photo!

(Also Bearded Tit isn't a tit either! Belongs to its own family Panuridae, closely related to Parrotbills, Paradoxornithidae. It's a minefield out there!)
