Yesterday I ran a little drop in workshop on Governors Island where we made bird data portraits with cyanotype.

Bird data can help us understand a place— and making art with it can be really fun!

Elephant mosquitoes! 💙 You big beautiful leggy things. Haven't gotten a chance to shoot them in a long time.
(elephant mosquitoes don't bite, and their larvae prey on the larvae of other mosquitoes. Good boys, all of them)

Students made their first minicomics in my intro making course - mostly standard format but this student, a first time maker(!), did something so off the charts I’m still reeling from it! & he made like 12 of them for his classmates! A paper engineering feat of flipbookery as well as killer drawing!

Timeless, and highly of-the-moment.
I imagine the old tried-and-true language. May you walk wrong. May you never sleep again. May the cat eat you and the devil eat the cat. Go astray a hundred times.

When I was forced out of my lab, I was able to continue researching because of Morphosource.

I would not be a scientist right now if it wasnt for this incredible resource.
For years, 💀MorphoSource💀 has given researchers, educators, and students 🚨free access🚨 to 3D data on museum specimens from around the world.
🔆Now it is asking for some help to continue its work🔆

What if the ground beneath your feet remembers?

Bogs aren’t wastelands. They're time capsules; beautiful living systems that preserve food, rituals, travel, climate, and human stories for thousands of years.

Today, I wrote about the muck that keeps our history.
