parkade and how vehicles are parked. It’s so fascinating. The bike room has hundreds of bikes stored in the same space as about <10 vehicles. No spaces for e-bikes or cargo or long tail bikes. None. I squeeze my ebike in there into a corner but sometimes knock other bikes off the racks as I go 😬😭

Cheap manufacturing risks, regulatory roadblocks, and why BC’s parkade fire codes haven't been updated since the 1970s. But mining-industry tech can save lives by acting as an early-warning detection system for parkade and building fires.

I hope most of that is future money.
After 3 years they’ve built a not-yet-finished parkade and hole.

If you build to a full 6 floors (a "Six/Six") and put the bikes underground in a parkade, then you can get to ~2.4FSR.

This is roughly the rental density allowed in R3, but still less than the 2.9FSR in the original re-zoning proposal.

Over time you'd approximate a perimeter block.

I don't usually second guess other's design work, without understanding the site and brief in depth, but I am invested in the outcomes for single stair code reform.

So, here's a 50'x150' lot with our Five/Six prototype and a lane building. Keeping the same underground parkade. Only 1.7FSR vs 2.9

@chris it's currently a parkade so it should be.

Making transit better means more people use it! Ridership on the corridor of the R2 extension is up by 7% compared to this time last year.

There was one I saw up for sale that didn't have a garage so much as the basement was a heated parkade. And the interior was mostly purple for some reason.

I also see them with creative zoning and development on regular lots. Three story building up to within 3 feet of all property lines. No yard.

This is the housing innovation we need. There's a condemned parkade in Lloyd that would be perfect for this.

heads-up: IWK parkade will be undergoing repairs Oct 26 - Jan 16

this will no doubt make an already difficult parking situation even worse. if you are coming for an appointment, leave LOTS of time.

The parkade was scheduled to be closed for 3-4 weeks when the project started at on July 6th. We are now almost 4 months into the project with no completion date in sight. Our Jeep battery is dead and the tires are losing pressure. I’m so fucking frustrated!
