Since I moved back to Chicago, three bike facilities I use super frequently have seen massive improvements:
- Clark PBL Devon to Edgewater
- Pratt PBL Western to Ravenswood (now complete!)
- North Shore Channel Trail to greenway connection at Lawrence and the River
- Clark PBL Devon to Edgewater
- Pratt PBL Western to Ravenswood (now complete!)
- North Shore Channel Trail to greenway connection at Lawrence and the River
Also to give credit--CDOT continues chugging along making (to my eye) pretty high-quality bike lanes! It's a big city so it takes a long time but it feels like we're not that far from reaching a kind of critical mass of interconnected safe routes in some parts of the city
More fodder for my theory that Chicago could be an incredible bike city (with meaningful mode share) with the right infrastructure

GOOD NEWS: The protected bike lane on 2nd Avenue, just south of Denny—which was removed in 2021—will be rebuilt as a raised PBL.

just to say it again: the bike infrastructure immediately around me has gotten massively better since I moved to RP in 2019. Clark PBL, Pratt PBL, all the zany treatments on Granville. it's a whole new ballgame up here and the relevant agencies & offices deserve credit.
I think today was my first time riding the new Granville from Broadway to Clark since it officially opened and 💯💯💯
one fun part of spring biking after winter hiatus is finding what has been newly resurfaced. today it was Bryn Mawr along Montrose Cemetery just west of Pulaski and the Skokie Valley Trail north of Oakton
