Very pleased to spot a family of Dartford Warblers this evening on Gower. Three juveniles huddled together in the brambles with an adult seen further along the coast. Great to confirm successful breeding as not had many sightings this year. Nice sunset from Penclawdd on the way home. #birdingWales

Caught a nice rainbow from Penclawdd on the way around to Llanrhidian where our first Harrier in 2026 was of the Marsh variety. Then came a male Hen Harrier quickly followed by the Pallid, the two having a brief skirmish before continuing. Two Kestrels and a bonus Green Woodpecker. #birdingWales

The very high tide yesterday meant plenty of birds on the move including a Common Sandpiper which briefly landed on one of the moored boats at Penclawdd. It was these Shelduck though which caught the attention of my camera. #birdingWales #UKWildlife #birds

Penclawdd cockles for brecwast, cinio and tea would suit me lovely.
I don’t understand. Surely the majority of UK fish is exported to continent? If we stopped other countries fishing these waters they’d just retaliate via high tariffs, and the red tape would make it harder to sell anyway. Selling off their quotas in the 90’s seemed to be biggest damage to industry.

Quiet at Penclawdd with just a couple of Redshank and Teal braving conditions. Greylag and Canada Geese on the marsh. From Dalton’s Point thirty or so Dunlin and a Great Crested Grebe riding the choppy waters. #birdingWales

Earlier at Penclawdd a Common Sandpiper at the far end of the Pill was a nice find, adding to the spring like feel of the day. The usual Black Headed Gulls were back and joined by this Common Gull, several more of which were on the mud off Dalton’s Point. #birdingWales #birds #UKBirding
