Has anyone asked PenFed, Navy Federal, or USAA about this?
A new White House memo says that furloughed federal workers aren't entitled to back pay.
This is clearly against the law, which guarantees furloughed federal employees back pay for the duration of a government shutdown.

Here’s where I will note that many banks like Navy Federal, PenFed, USAA and others will do zero percent interest loans during shutdowns if you have your pay being direct deposited with them, which is amazing- but shouldn’t be necessary

This is gonna be simple; google ones near you and look to see if you like their offerings!
Some will differ based on where they are. The biggest in the country are Navy Federal and PenFed!
PenFed can be opened online!

Also to be honest I don’t know how you would even technically do this. Money comes from the treasury to the pots of money, you don’t just wander down to PenFed and say “I am depositing money for army!”

i know dumping on USAA is a well-worn road, but the fact that you can only toggle ACCOUNT documents to paperless, but you can’t turn off marketing nonsense, credit card offers, mortgage offers, etc. is ridiculous

The catch is, this was at IAD. That airport can be amazingly efficient between banks of flights. (Still annoying that I'll have to walk through the PenFed Tunnel of Doom to reach my C concourse gate, though.)

Good thread on the just-adjourned Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority board meeting. Another key detail: Demolition of concourse C won't start until Concourse B construction in 2039, itself described as "subject to passenger demand." So the PenFed Tunnel of Doom will be around even longer.
The MWAA board is hearing the Dulles Airport redevelopment plan now. They will vote this morning whether to approve the nearly $20 billion project.
