If you're into fragrances, as I am, go to real perfumers. Some of my favs:
AbdesSalaam Attar: Self-taught Sufi perfumer who only uses natural ingredients. Many of his perfumes feel like you're walking through a Middle Eastern bazaar. Milano Caffe, Cuoio dei Dolci, and Tabac are worth a sniff.

A really rather beautiful ghost sign just popped up on Magdalen Street, thus confirming its position as the best street in the city again for yet another year. Early c20th painted and gold foiled glass. Seems it was covered over in the 1960s. It’s been a Chinese chemist for years.

This thread is an excellent example of why I am opposed to dupes. Perfumers spend their entire lives studying and honing their craft with no copyright protections. There are plenty of affordable perfumes out there; we don’t need to steal from perfumers to smell good.
I’ve been a perfumer for 16 years, first a junior at Lush, then a perfumer + technical manager/quality controller for a small supplier, then a training manager + perfumer tor a consultancy & for the last 8+ years the head perfumer & co-founder of Olfiction and lately our own brand Eau de Boujee.

Will simply become an achingly wistful quality of light, emit some gentle barely audible susurration & a scent so luscious, evocative & ambiguous that perfumers fire themselves in despair.
Gonna do so much intriguing shimmering bbz

for the last couple of years I've had a "shop small, handmade" policy for my gift-giving. if it's not bought from an artisan or independent store, it's not getting wrapped. however this commitment is constantly challenged by the sheer amount of ai that potters, perfumers, authors, etc that use ai.
