A group of male and female Green-winged Teal ducks, which are North America's smallest dabbling ducks. Both species have a vibrant green wing patch. The males have a cinnamon-red head with a wide, iridescent green stripe, grey speckled sides, and a white vertical shoulder bar. The females are mottled brown with a dark, muted look. The ducks were perched on brown logs in the blue waters of the Petaluma River, with dried yellow grasses along the edge of the river. There are reflections of most of the birds in the water. Seen at Shollenberger Park in Petaluma, California on a sunny January afternoon.
