Glad at least some of Burwell Lode's bankside vegetation escaped the clearance. Delighted by Flowering-Rush (Butomus umbellatus), the locally famous patch of "cabbages" Common Butterbur (Petasites hybridus) as well as Great Willowherb (Epilobium hirsutum) & Reed Sweet Grass (Glyceria maxima). 23/25

Los Petasites ya empiezan a coger tamaño.

#wildflowerhour sometimes travelling away from home you encounter things which are commonplace there (even invasive) and yet don't occur on your local patch. It is probably bad to be pleased to see white butterbur 🤣

Butterbur is a dioecious species: this is the female plant, rarer and with a more elongated inflorescence than the male plant.

Butterbur is a composite, so each of these 'flowers' are actually made up of lots of florets or #tinyflowers
#WildflowerHour
Female Butterbur (Petasites hybridus) plants, with long, elongated inflorescences that flower March to May. The elegant inflorescence of female Butterbur, each flower on its long stalk consists of lots of tiny florets - it is a composite flower, a member of the Asteraceae (Daisy) family
