#petrocracy
oil and gas manufacturers never have to "admit" anything without a subpoena. in fact they pay people to lie about stuff. why do the good alternatives to the petrocracy have to show up unarmed to the knife fight
(Conversely I do think we need to admit that industrial scale solar is unpleasant, ranking somewhere above pig farms but below all crop tending in its aesthetic impact)

Petrocracy is emerging as the unifying framework for Trump II foreign policy

Fun fact: Canada decided to be a petrocracy in the 1980s and Free Trade solidified the decision. My new book series Canada in Decline explains how.
My piece today in @winnipegfreepress.com: Canada has become a #Petrocacy. All govts in Canada must now bend the knee to the fossil fuel industry. Their powerful lobby uses devious tactics to eliminate regulation & responsibility for the mess they create. www.winnipegfreepress.com/opinion/anal...

*Is Trump their "most recent" despot purchase? There must be other newer ones. And future ones, waiting in the wings. #bloodforoil #petrocracy
Pouring one out for the fossil fuel companies experiencing severe buyers remorse regarding their most recent despot purchase. No refunds on this one, my guys.

I have no interest in normalizing the AB “separatists” movement. It’s a hodgepodge of Christian Nationalists searching for a caliphate, ethnocentric white nationalists & conspiracy loons all cosplaying as libertarians, all of them corrupted by an American petrocracy. Treat them as traitors. Period.

The violent death throes of petrocracy?
“We’re going to be very strongly involved in it,” Trump says about the future of Venezuela’s oil industry on Fox News

Israeli fighter jet in pink livery for International Women's Day. Take a knee to protest racism before playing football in an oppressive Middle-Eastern petrocracy whose luxury is maintained by a vast, disenfranchised underclass. Pride flag on the Orphan Crushing Machine.

I hope the 🇺🇸 notices.

The 🇪🇺 is doing some amazing fucking shit with clean energy and this country could stand to learn a few lessons from 🇪🇺.

Are you hoping pointing this out will impress them and show we're not all like Trump and the pollutant petrocracy?

A nice review in Swedish: ‘What if you want to read something more drastic? Then you shouldn't miss "Russia Against Modernity." Etkind sees Russia as a vulgar petrocracy. The fight against climate destruction is a mortal threat to Putin's regime. It wants to turn back the clock.’

Total bullshit. Welcome to Petrocracy.
Verdict in on energy transfer v greenpeace.

Jury found Greenpeace Inc guilty on almost all counts. ET lawyer estimated total damages for Inc, Fund and International around $700 million. (Total still to be confirmed)

Norway is a subsidiary of Equinor not the other way apparently. Since the state own the company and collects the taxes the same money could be transferred via the state ensuring neutrality and academic freedom. Instead they choose petrocracy and oligarchy.

And at this point, with the decreasing costs of renewables and increasing costs of likely climate change-related events it can hardly come under a "fiscally conservative" umbrella, unless by that you mean "beholden to the petrocracy"

It seems like we've spent a lot of time on Trump's ties to Epstein, Russia, Israel, and so on, and not nearly enough on Project 2025's ties to the petrocracy.

Bridgerton is a historical AU where the elimination of colonial racism—but endurance of Regency sexism—has accelerated the rise of petroleum-based fabrics at a pre-apocalyptic rate.

England had become a petrocracy for polyester. Season 5 will cover a centuries long Butlerian Jihad against sequins.

We are currengly owned by the Petrocracy: Remember, Putin is possibly the richest petroleum plutocrat in the world. Remember, R's are owned by fossil fuel interests.

We've been a petrocracy for so long - and yet Conservatives are constantly complaining that the Liberals aren't supportive of oil&gas. Under Libs the O&G industry has prospered and grown, and yet it's never enough.

It's too much, actually, but no one can get that through their heads.

It’s a global petrocracy, and we need a revolution against it to save the world. 🗺️ 🌱 🔌💡
‘Outrageous’: COP30 draft deal drops mention of fossil fuels despite calls for transition roadmap — Euronews
Experts have slammed the “shamefully weak” COP30 draft text for failing to mention fossil fuels at all.

Big Oil. (Nice contrast, really.)

About 70% of America is concerned about climate change, and any given oil company is about as popular as ebola. I figure we should hammer away at the petrocracy whenever possible.
