Woodward now says the meaning of Trump's TS posts "false squarely within executive privilege."

Judge Reyes: he posted it publicly!

Woodward: I cannot opine as to the president's meaning in a communication.

you guys are being haters but if the atlantic was just philosophers writing about things like what "fun size" truly means rather than social issues it would be one of the best outlets on the internet
Large candy bars are the considered the holy grail, but giving them out on Halloween missed the point of the holiday, @ibogost.com argued in 2017: theatln.tc/uwjg9Sqw

"The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways; the point, however, is to change it."

🎶"Now [Don's] an intellectual, brings a book to every meal.
He likes the deep philosophers, like Norman Vincent Peale." 🎶

(hat tip to Tom Lehrer)
Religion note: Trump is talking about Norman Vincent Peale here, who is one of the few faith leaders he has consistently let cited and lauded throughout his career — including pre-politics.

Peale drew national backlash when he openly opposed John F. Kennedy’s election, because he was Catholic.
Trump: "The Power of Positive Thinking is an incredible book, a book you can still read. And it's all about positive thinking for our country, for your families and lives. Great book."

This is why everyone hates moral philosophers.

It's a problem I only barely avoided. It's just so easy to become enchanted with such an elaborately beautiful system of thought. I think it helps to be exposed to Spinoza, Lucretius, and other philosophers with beautiful, complex, and frighteningly plausible systems of thought first, an inoculation

I am perfectly fine with saying "don't go to philosophers for therapy", but I think the bigger issue in our world is people going to therapists for philosophy
Some people like to say that philosophy is therapy. I’m inclined to think you’ll have better luck just going to literal therapy
