I get frustrated with my child's pickiness ... But noodles with butter ARE pretty darn good.

People confuse pickiness with good taste. My worst personality trait is how picky I am.

You may overestimate their pickiness!!

The author "urges parents to reframe healthy eating not as discipline or deprivation but as a smart investment and a genuine pleasure." Children didn't always need to learn how to eat well. From the archives:

Someone responded to me about “not indulging your children’s pickiness” and there were a bunch of words after that but I’ll never know what they were because I blocked them mid sentence. Read the article.

I think it's a thing mostly with Online Dating, which indulges that kind of absurd pickiness (like only looking at profiles of guys who are in the 95th percentile of height)

Every day. I'd change his food, but because of Grimbal's allergies and pickiness, that's not happening

Even if Picky didn’t have terrible recommendations in the epilogue, it’s a dangerous book predicated on an incorrect hypothesis. It presents itself as a history book that says American kids have been modeled into “pickiness” by corporations.
Picky by Helen Zoe Veit will hurt people. Food aversion has proven neurobiological factors and ARFID doesn’t typically respond to exposure therapy. There are social elements and some kids are “just” selective in their eating, but putting it all under one tent will kill kids.
Picky-eating American children are afflicted with a form of privilege we don't talk about enough: not-dying privilege.

I can’t eat most fruits, & as a kid, my parents made every effort to “overcome” this “pickiness.”

But it’s not about “pickiness,” it’s about the visceral disgust they instill in me. It’s like asking someone to “overcome” their aversion to rotting, dirty roadkill. My body rejects them. #Autistic
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but autistic people aren’t “picky eaters”. We’re sensory eaters.

What may seem like fussiness is often an intense sensory experience:

- Textures that overwhelm
- Smells that trigger nausea
- Flavours that overload the brain

Outrageous! The moon rotation in this shot of
The Lion King remake implies it was shot far into the northern hemisphere. What happened to realism? Literally unwatchable.

Reading a book on childhood pickiness and my main takeaway so far is that Americans used to eat just a fuckload more oysters than they do now

I’m sorry I will not hear any talk about the attractiveness of this man. Reserve that pickiness for your own choices…or settlings

my contribution to kids and pickiness is that when our older son was tiny we learned that “your kid will eat when he needs food” is not true and we had to figure out how the hell to get enough calories into him so we did things like “have ice cream in front of the tv” and you do what you have to

this isn't just grammar pickiness or a stylistic preference. I have *seen* a politician say "they aren't the same as [real] women, thus 'transwomen'". it matters.
Trans. Woman. Two words.

"trans woman" shows that this is just a kind of woman, like tall, blonde or green-eyed.

"Transwoman" has and will be used to say that we are a separate thing from women.

Trans women are a kind of woman, pass it on.

A new book convincingly demonstrates that picky eating is a recent—and quite American—invention.

Our pediatrician always said “they’ll eat when they’re hungry” and that has never really failed to be true.

Eventually the pickiness gets overwhelmed by a need for calories

in my experience, with my kids' and others, is that pickiness is almost always a control thing
