This is what gets me, too. Research is a phase where I do *so much* creatively -- seeing connections, chasing resonances, deepening ideas. Outsourcing it (to an error-ridden planetkiller) would be the worst possible option
There's Discourse about using genAI for writing research, and I want to add that every time I've done research (reading books, emailing the library, talking directly to experts, etc) I always stumble across something that inspires a new direction or adds depth that wouldn't have been there before.

planetkiller weapons are impractical not because they're hard to power or whatever but the blast damage is like, way too likely to hit you if you're close enough to fire effectively. which would be sad if it didn't feel like a. well. if it felt bad hitting your face.
