This is what gets me, too. Research is a phase where I do *so much* creatively -- seeing connections, chasing resonances, deepening ideas. Outsourcing it (to an error-ridden planetkiller) would be the worst possible option
There's Discourse about using genAI for writing research, and I want to add that every time I've done research (reading books, emailing the library, talking directly to experts, etc) I always stumble across something that inspires a new direction or adds depth that wouldn't have been there before.

Exactly. Palpatine understood the purpose of his military not as "win all the battles" but as "display the Empire's power". The sort of grand strategy that designs a planetkiller superweapon has to be one with a very specific set of goals.
