I'm Canadian and a SAHM, and I've never seen parents/caregivers at playgroups discuss politics this much. People are furious at the US and everyone's talking about how to keep our money up here. Canceling vacations seems to be the #1 thing

I’m also glad to live in a neighborhood with people who could and do take extra steps. The neighborhood moms passed the word around playgroups. The walkers kept eyes open. Heck even the postman was keeping an eye out.

I was always writing bids for local summer schemes, renovations for community centres, playgroups, etc. You name it, there was an EU community fund supporting it.

Are non-teachers also using things like "one two three, eyes on me" when they need to get groups of children's attention at, like, birthday parties or playgroups or wherever? Is this just a universal child attention-getter, or are the laymen just saying shhh?

This is my favorite precon card as well. It's super flavorful and captures the essence of what I love about Commander.
It's also low-key very strong at most casual playgroups even ignoring synergies. If your playgroup always says yes to "tempting offer" cards then this will also do serious work.

I love cards that take the social part of the format, and put it front and centre.

Our library offers, among many many other things, playgroups run by an occupational therapist, free and discounted passes to museums, indoor snowball fights, personalized "What should I read next?" recommendations, a sewing machine, a soil tester, a light therapy lamp, and a ukelele.
The amount of resources available for free at your library is absolutely ridiculous. Wanna do a JSTOR search? Libraries gotchu. Wanna watch a movie for free? Libraries gotchu. Genealogy? Libraries gotchu. Wanna look up digitized images of sewing patterns in 1930s ladies magazines? Libraries gotchu.
