Some exciting news:

The 2027 PolMeth annual conference is taking place at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City!

Save the date: July 15-17, 2027

I'll be organizing with my fantastic colleague Yuree Noh. Reach out with questions, and see you there!

Obviously it's complicated. Someone at PolMeth very fairly pointed out that if authors have latitude to use AI, it's odd to tie the hands of reviewers alone. Also sometimes reviewers review pieces outside their area of expertise and *maybe* a good reviewer could use an AI to make up for that.

Back with a substantially revised version of our Information Limits paper ahead of #PolMeth

Huge thanks to everyone whose comments and feedback have already helped improve the paper

We’d love to hear what you think:

“Just collect more data” is one of the most common responses to uncertainty in quantitative research.

But in a lot of social science, that advice is impossible—or even misleading. Our new working paper asks: when has a study reached its information limit?

Check it out here: osf.io/preprints/so...

eJobs, Bluesky, polmeth, regional organizations (like EUSA for me). It’s definitely not centralized.

But eJobs is still a thing for this.

Less than a week until the PolMeth application deadline! I'm on the program committee, and look forward to reviewing submissions. If you're developing new methods or applying sophisticated approaches to substantive political questions, submit your work. Funds are available to support some attendees.

Another Abu Dhabi polmeth sneak peek... I finally wrote out the specification for ideal point marginal effects!

(my favorite part of research is when you *finally* discover something new. it can take forever to explain what you did and why it matters, but still, what a thrill).

This is the second time this hotel has left me two decaf coffee pads for the coffee maker in my room. If I'd wanted to experience the caffeine-free lifestyle I would have gone to POLMETH. #APSA2018

Oddly, the paper (from program: https://www.textasdata2019.net/program.html) is written as if the estimates are supposed to be causal, without using the word. An overabundance of rhetorical caution, I think. We're not a polmeth audience either.
