my polcomm class these days is divided between "conventional campaign wisdom" and "Everything Is Phone Now" and i think it works pretty well!
Hank Green makes some good points in this vid. in addition to Trump 2016 was the year that:
-a majority of seniors got on Facebook
-mobile internet displaced desktop
-a majority of political spending was online rather than traditional media
-Twitter and Instagram switched to algo feeds

Work led by the indominable @tjscotto.bsky.social and Graeme Roy in collaboration with Strathclyde PhD student Thomas Schober and Glasgow Uni student Jan Jasinski.

We find an increasing political divide over references to Smith as his ideas re-entered the mainstream in the 1970s and 80s.
Building on Uni Glasgow's recent celebration of Adam Smith's legacy at the uni, we took on a project to see how Smith's ideas are referenced on the floor of the House of Commons using simple QTA approaches -- now out at National Institute Economic Review

The reason why I got into political science, sociology, polcomm, etc. is directly related to Trump. He’s been relevant for almost half my life now and if he doesn’t somehow blessedly fall out of relevance before 2027, he Will have been relevant for half my life
