Christianity doesn’t teach morality—it teaches obedience. Instead of valuing all people equally (horizontal morality), it trains followers to submit to power (vertical morality). This is why Christians keep aligning with authoritarian rulers. I break it down in my latest essay. Read on Substack:

One of the astounding aspects of Christian nationalism is how deeply embedded race is to the concept. I always come back to this finding:
When asked if racial or religious diversity is more likely to hinder national unity, folks who embrace CN are more likely to pick racial diversity.

#polrel on a topic that doesn't get nearly enough attention, the John Birch Society as a progenitor of contemporary American Christian nationalism.
My book God's Angry Men is coming out in early 2026. It follows the Christian nationalism and use of conspiracy the John Birch Society from its beginnings in the 1940s to its members founding of the moral majority, the Council on National Policy, and The Heritage Foundation.
