DraftKings was secretly paid to run a Polygon network validator In March 2022, Polygon boasted about how "The decision by DraftKings, a NASDAQ-listed company, to take an active role in day-to-day operations of a major network is an important adoption milestone for the blockchain industry." The company had agreed to run a validator on the network, and Polygon claimed in a press release at the time that DraftKings would be "an equal community member" among other validators. However, it turns out that Polygon allocated tens of millions of tokens to the DraftKings validator — far more than they allocated to other validators — on which DraftKings earned a highly unusual 100% of staking rewards. Polygon also sent the company 2.5 million of their MATIC tokens (priced at just over $1.5 million at the time), and it's unclear if this was a purchase by DraftKings or a transfer as a part of the deal. In October 2023, Polygon kicked DraftKings off the network as the validator had failed to maintain performance standards. Throughout the period that the DraftKings maintained the validator, they earned millions of dollars through the undisclosed partnership.

Today, barely a month after devastating layoffs at Thrillist, Eater, and PS, and a wave of unannounced staff layoffs from around Vox Media, we learned that 18% of our union colleagues at Vox.com had been laid off. These layoffs impact staff both inside and outside of the newsroom as well as members of the Vox Media Podcast Network — and once again disproportionately affect women and journalists of color. We are again devastated to lose some of our most hard-working, experienced, and authoritative colleagues. These layoffs reflect a significant downsizing of our editorial team and a defanging of our editorial work, and come with little explanation about how they will impact our journalism moving forward. The Writers Guild of America East and Vox Media Union will do everything we can to help and support the colleagues who are leaving us, just as we have supported recent layoffs around the company. As we approach negotiations for our third collective bargaining agreement, we are redoubling our demand for a clear, transparent layoff process that reduces the anxiety and frustration caused by unexpected layoff announcements that seem to have no clear strategic purpose. We’re also fighting for expanded protections for workers and expanded severance for departing employees. Vox Media Union has been a vanguard of digital media at the Guild, and we realize that we are advocating not just for our own employees, but for this industry as a whole. Yup now on the Base network – it offers greater scalability than the Polygon Network, meaning it can handle more transactions without being co-managed. The only thing is that transactions on the Polygon Network are faster than on the Base Network.

Polygon formerly $MATIC has updated their network by changing the token name to $POL, this was on September 4, so, if you see a change in your wallet on the Polygon network with $POL it is because of this. You will now be able to participate in governance.

I first played the Ē Ressha de Ikō/A-Train series on Amiga with its port of A-Train III. Then I was overjoyed to find out that the series had jumped over to PlayStation with AIV: Evolution Global.
