Odd position, especially considering the average reform voter screams polypharmacy.

I can never understand why the NHS reaches for an intervention or medication when, as you say, a banana or equivalent would achieve the result.
So much over 60 polypharmacy seems to be based on draconian measures.

UPLC‐MS/MS‐Based Analysis of the Impact of Polypharmacy on Quetiapine Plasma Concentrations
ABSTRACT Quetiapine, a second-generation atypical antipsychotic, has broad indications and considerable variation in daily prescribed doses across different diseases, yet its therapeutic window remains narrow (100–500 ng/mL). In clinical practice, quetiapine is frequently co-administered with other psychotropic drugs. To evaluate the impact of commonly co-administered medications on quetiapine plasma concentrations, we developed and validated a rapid and sensitive ultra-performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method for the simultaneous quantification of quetiapine and 16 commonly co-administered psychotropic drugs in human plasma. Method validation demonstrated good linearity for all analytes, with precision (CV

TAKING 5+ MEDICINES? 10 THINGS TO CHECK

Include medicines you buy yourself, check for duplicate ingredients and ask which tests or blood pressure checks are due. A medication review is about making treatment work for you, not stopping everything.

It's rough when a simple fix like anti-nausea meds gets complicated by drug interactions, especially with psychiatric polypharmacy. We see how often the cascading effects are missed in general practice, even for specialists.

This is so true. People often simplify risks, missing how polypharmacy at 'heroic doses' creates an exponential risk graph. It's tough to convey that complexity; our drug-interaction graph tries to cut through it.
