#post–Cold
20mm has this vibe dialed in, but in cold war tech instead of ww1

people don't know how funky and just-as-weird the post-propeller era is, the supersonic doohickeys people were down to just throw themselves into are genuinely unbelievable

After feeling like I could participate in hot girl summer for the first time ever, I am suffering a crisis of confidence as we move into the cooler months.

I expect a big part of it is after going several months with clothes that fit, putting on my three sizes too big cold weather wear is […]

Happy #LetterboxdFriday! Time to post your #LastFourWatched!

My viewing slowed down a bit this week, but I've got:

Good practical effects in a lackluster movie
Great practical effects in an absurdly fun movie
A stone cold classic that deserved a rewatch before now
A film for review (coming soon)

Irish Times, buddy, I'll tell you now I'm not going to expand that paragraph any further, even if you're being ironic about it. You've done nothing to sell this article to me.

Renewables, Farmer Aggregation Offer Solutions to Africa's Post-Harvest Losses
Food and Agriculture Renewables, Farmer Aggregation Offer Solutions to Africa’s Post-Harvest Losses KIGALI, Oct 2 2026 (IPS) - Post-harvest losses, particularly in rural areas, threaten the gains Africa is making in agricultural production and export capacity. In Sub-Saharan Africa, up to 40% of farm produce is lost because of a lack of cold storage, according to industry players. Highly perishable farm produce, like fruits and vegetables, can go as high as 70%. With agriculture accounting for one-third of the Gross Domestic Product and employing over 60%, such a loss threatens jobs and the livelihoods of millions of people. Farmers in Africa grapple with a lack of reliable refrigeration, an underdeveloped cold chain and unreliable power storage, leaving harvests to heat and spoilage. Poor road networks and limited refrigerated transport options also worsen the situation. Farmers transport fruits long distances to processing centres under non-ideal conditions, resulting in losses. Renewable Energy Offers an Opportunity At the Africa Food Systems Forum in Kigali, Rwanda, experts are exploring how renewable energy can ease the burden on farmers who often turn to diesel generators to cool their farms’ fresh produce. Olamide Niyi-Afuye, Chief Executive Officer at Africa Minigrid Developers Association (AMDA), an industry association...

Most of the Finnish heat pumps are air source, some are ground source. It's a huge success story in the Nordics.

You'd need more insulation in the UK to begin with, but these things benefit you instantly. Along with district heating, that we pioneered at scale.

on top of all that, doordash has also ruined restaurants. People are doordashing food, doordash increases the price by like 50% and then gives it to you cold, soggy, late, and the dasher forgot to grab half the items, and then people post bad reviews of the restaurant when doordash is at fault
