Last year we went to the local Ren Faire *on the Harry Potter theme day* and we saw maybe one or two people in Potterverse costumes, impossible to overstate how much JKR’s standing has fallen
So I had a walk around the very crowded exhibit hall at FanExpo Boston. There is, as expected, sooooo much cosplay. Star Wars, One Piece, Walking Dead, Disney, superheroes. You name it. Which makes it notable what is missing. Haven’t seen a single Harry Potter robe, tie, or wand.

Make it an economically bad choice. If any Harry Potter D&D books come out do not buy them. Do not live-stream games set in the "potterverse" and do not watch any live-streams of "potterverse" games.

I think this is true for all aspects of the story; setting, plot, &c. There's a sort of threshold for filling out details of the world, where you cross from implying the existence of more to making it obvious that you don't have enough
the characters in narrative don't exist outside the story you're telling and the longer you drag out a story into serialized storytelling the harder it is to maintain the illusion that they do, which is why serialized storytelling shouldn't go on forever
