I’ve been in powerchains for many months and didn’t feel them at all, but whatever is happening with this new wire is UNPLEASANT.

Everyone on the braces subreddit makes it sound like powerchains are the worst thing ever, but literally no one prepared me for the hell that is rubber bands.

tbh its MOSTLY after checkups when things like a new powerchain gets put on or a new wire, bcs u get used to it. but the initial like. days. those r the WORST. powerchains are a BITCH. and my ORTHO KEEPS PUTTING ON CLEAR/WHITE ONES AND THEY STAIN YELLOW CAUSE I LIKE EATING CURRY

One of the many annoying things about powerchains is that I always have to use a regular toothbrush instead of my electric one for a few days.

Powerchains are legit. Two days ago I had a ~1mm gap between my front teeth. As of today, the gap is closed.

Watching my teeth move and feeling my bite improve throughout my treatment is so cool.

I could do without the rubber bands they made me start this week though 😫

I never had powerchains when I had braces as a kid, but I’ve been in them for the majority of this treatment and they haven’t been too bad.

However, the child next to me was getting a palate expander installed and hearing the ortho talking to her mom about it gave me ptsd-esque flashbacks.

Ortho appointments are just far enough apart to let me fully forget how much new powerchains hurt for the first few days.
