A significant portion of the funds is earmarked for weapons production.

Nope. Pointing out that a mayor that refused to follow up on his promises to arrest war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu, then started funding Zionist institutions (like the Museum of Jewish Heritage), is not Jewish discrimination

AI! 😆

That's interesting about cumin & Rajasthan.

I remember when I was in Syria (pre civil war) being given a demonstration on saffron & how it's obtained from crocus & I became obsessed with replicating the same in the UK.
I was not able to replicate the same in the UK 😅🤣

The same evidence of absence of criticism of the 2-pdr applies to Gott's report on 7 Armd Div's action.

Bottomline, there wasn't a view after BATTLEAXE that the 2-pdr had become obsolete. From the actual combat reports it seemed to have done its job during the operation.

And of course, the person we have to thank for the near-complete erasure of the German language in eastern Europe was you-know-who, who instead of creating new "living space" wiped out centuries of German presence, along with millions of Yiddish speakers, a Jewish fusion language adjacent to German.

The carpet reminds me of the first iteration of Rawlinson End...
"That old, old room, part panelled and part papered with a curious pre-war design of faces and, if you half closed your eyes, they seemed to form roses of great vulgarity."

This article is pre-Iran war. I think with high gas prices the car makers pushing this stuff are starting to get clobbered for it.

You know what could be an excellent series? Following some of the key players in development of molecular biology in both France, UK and US from the pre war years until 1965. Franklin, Monod & Crick would form a very interesting trio see that time through. And not just their science.

About 40% of the total crude oil exported from the region in September bypassed the strait and exited via overland pipelines to ports on the Red Sea or the Gulf of Oman, up from 17% before the war, according to Kpler data. ⛽️

The propeller I made myself from wood, and it was pretty nice. I felt confident. Young people do that. It’s why we hire them to race cars and go to war and otherwise just be total fucking idiots. Anyway, it was time to fly. I waited minimally for solid conditions and did the pre-flight check.

Yet crude oil prices are still very high as are diesel and gasoline prices. Fast to increase but very slow to fall, as always.

Three reasons Middle East oil is nearly back to pre-Iran war levels
The volume of oil flowing from the Middle East region has almost returned to pre-war levels, data shows, despite the continued restrictions Iran is placing on vessels attempting to travel through the Strait of Hormuz. Seven months after the US-Israel war with Iran led to the effective closure of the critical waterway, the maritime intelligence firm Kpler said that in the final week of September, daily oil flow from the Middle East reached 92% of its pre-war baseline. But some experts have questioned the sustainability of these measures, given the risk of escalating Iranian attacks or a change in US policy. About 40% of the total oil exported from the region in September bypassed the strait and exited via overland pipelines to ports on the Red Sea or the Gulf of Oman, up from 17% before the war, according to Kpler. Oil exports from Iran, however, have ground to a halt after the reimposition of a US naval blockade in July. The US military has been supporting ships as they pass through the Strait of Hormuz since at least mid-June and US Navy data shows the number of vessels assisted by US forces is up by a third in September...
