India's economy takes precedence amid US tensions, with tariffs showing a delayed ripple effect on American consumers and the broader economy. A strategic balancing act. #geopolitics #economics

"A weak man is not as happy as that same man would be if he were strong. This reality is offensive to some people who would like the intellectual or spiritual to take precedence. It is instructive to see what happens to these very people as their squat strength goes up."

The impulse to elevate

[one's reluctance to confront an ENORMOUS injustice perpetrated by one's cohort]

into the sphere of relevance, let alone equivalence or precedence, because of

[an infintely less urgent injustice AGAINST it]

reveals something profoundly broken in one's moral algebra.

At what point does the welfare of the child take precedence over their parents wacko religious beliefs?
NEW: Emma Joyce died at 3 years old. The next year, her sister Ava Joan died.

Then their brother died from the same complication of untreated diabetes that killed Ava Joan.

Later, a fourth sibling died.

Their parents believed in prayer, not medicine.
Four Kids in One Faith-Healing Family Died. Authorities Could Do Nothing.
An exemption in Idaho law shields faith-healing parents from criminal prosecution for conduct that otherwise would be charged as neglect. It also keeps police and social workers from stepping in to pr...

The one thing about which there is near-unanimity in medical literature is the harmful effects of red meat. But hey, politics take precedence over science in MAGA world.

There's no chance the EU will give us any opt outs on it but they may be willing to look the other way if the government just promises that, especially as there's a fair bit of precedence for referendums on joining the Euro

That’s misinformed.
Garland, acting like many of US did in those good old days when we all thought there was a right way to behave, acted as any AG might have.
By the book.

Because if he had done it any other way republicans would have blown up the world.

The precedence is set now.

Get ready.

other treason courts have been presided over by Supreme Court justices, right? don't think they've ended in death penalties, but it seems the process up to that point has precedence

Short Shorts: Men at Leisure
Shorts are so…informal. Leisure is so…lazy. For centuries, Western culture gave precedence to pants over shorts, and work has been pushed as the purpose of life at the expense of rest. Real men wore p...

Mishna: The mitzvah of yibbum (levirate marriage) initially took precedence over halitza when people performed it for the sake of the mitzvah. Now that people do not do yibbum for the sake of the mitzvah, halitza takes precedence.

As long as we’re afraid to be “woke” or “woke 1” or whatever we aren’t going to get anywhere. As long as we’re completely afraid of conflict we aren’t going to get anywhere. And as long as we’re willing to play into the idea that certain women’s rights take precedence, they’ll dice us like salami.

I’m hoping bus lane enforcement is quickly deployed, regimented, and something we never look back at.

It sets a healthy precedence for transit and, more broadly, for sensible governance. Performative law-making is bad vibes all around.

Optimistic and curious about bike lanes in the future 👍

I wish the grand narrative/mystery didn't take precedence as the plot is superficial and nonsensical, and the emotional expressiveness of the art is strong enough to stand on its own

Liberal democracy is not anti-majoritarian, it just says that the rules of the game as agreed upon by the supermajority now take precedence when temporary majorities want to violate the rules they agreed to. The rule of law is the expression of the will of the supermajority.

though, it's usually easier, something Rae especially prefers when dealing with people.
His brawn side takes precedence when he's bored, annoyed, or faced with an opponent or issue that he refuses to waste his brain power on—it can also be a mix of all three.
In general though—more brain. (2/2)
