#prematurity
So much of prematurity is related to social determinants of health. And prematurity is so expensive and heart breaking (I have personal experience).
A program in Flint, MI, gave $1,500 to any/all pregnant people and $500/month for the first year of their infant’s life.

Among the benefits, those babies experienced lower rates of prematurity and low birth weight, which resulted in fewer NICU admissions, saving the city of Flint $6.2 million/year.

the fascism is for sure happening now. all the far flung harms you anxiously laughed off before are on the table. take time to think earnestly and calmly what you need to do to stay safe and survive. the time for brushing it off as alarmism or prematurity is over.

As someone who has had a premature baby and studies infant prematurity, this is both personally and professionally outrageous.

My son had an ophthalmology eval today. He’s legally blind with a long history of eye issues including retinopathy of prematurity, and bilateral cataract removal at only 13.

He now needs lens implants to save his vision.
Our worst fear though?
Not having insurance for surgery.

Because you're never too old to have apnea of prematurity.

So Flint, Michigan gave $1,500 to all pregnant people, plus $500 each month for the first year of the child’s young life.

It saved Flint $6.2 million dollars a year, due to lower rates of rates of prematurity and low birth weight, with fewer corresponding admissions.

The right thing, AND cheaper.

Husband just did a marathon for Great Ormond St. They saw one of our sons through aggressive leukaemia & the other through complications of extreme prematurity. Legends. As is he, for doing it in 3h17 at his age. Nice to see London streets being pounded for good causes today.

A lot of people on a lesser platform are convinced I made this up bc it is to “Baby Boy,” doesn’t sound like a human wrote this, and is ridiculous. Every boy child is named “baby boy” until they have another legal, given name. Happens a lot in emergent deliveries, prematurity, other NICU situations…

The GLP cannot help being untruthful it seems. In reality the judge refused permission to bring judicial review proceedings on two counts.
1. Prematurity
2. Standing
