I love starting paintings like “oh let’s challenge myself, this will be a challenge, I’m gonna challenge my skills” and then part way through I’m like “why is this hard??? am I… a bad artist?? I’m probably a bad artist???”

"Mad that it's too easy" is the heart of it; a lot of people feel threatened by their ideas having to stand alone rather than being propped up by physical anguish. They want art to be hard so fewer people can make it and they get paid more (pro-art opinion)
