Nothing says "We have a good and useful product that people love and are clamoring for" like using mafia-style shakedowns to extort schools into using your product, amirite?

Extortion is definitely the sign of a company confident in its product

Spotify sucks as a product and pays artists basically nothing—you owe it to yourself to ditch it

Gary, "use a different product" is literally my position so we are in agreement, thus your smarm is wasted on me.
Schools have the ability to turn off the AI features of what they essentially get for free if they choose to sever students from modernity. Instead they reject product upgrades and are arrogant enough to think they are software developers. Use a different product if you’re unhappy with The Google.

“The product is part of Spotify’s broader push to extract more revenue from its subscribers.” 💀

If a company endeavors to force customers to use a specific product, you can pretty much bet that a.) the product is shitty, b.) the product is harmful and c.) they will lose their shirts if they don't recoup their investment and are desperate.

It's amazing how Google has reduced their most successful and profitable product to a mere bargaining chip to force adoption of a new product they haven't even figured out how to make any money from people using

Not a sign of confidence on your own product if we’re being honest
“The company’s new strategy underscores Google’s powerful role in American education. If school leaders want continued student access to search within the company’s ecosystem, they will be forced to embrace Google’s A.I.”
Google Will Turn Off Search for Schools That Reject A.I.
Google is making it easier to restrict its A.I. tools for students. But schools that block A.I. entirely will lose student access to Google’s search engine.
