Condolences to any law professors who hoped to get a judicial nomination in the next two years.

Nah, it's at least 40% professors avoiding grading or writing.
Bluesky is NOT a niche microblogging website. Bluesky is the well attended office slack of illustrious publication Liberal Currents.

👇🎯💯 Professors don’t get appointed to Fortune 500 corporate boards. CEOs shouldn’t get to dominate university boards.
Appoint actual professors - educators - to the board of regents. No CEOs. No corporate lawyers. The people who do the teaching and research should be running universities. This is the only way they can truly serve the public good.
Higher ed board regents are appointed by the governor in Texas.

Notably UT board chairman Kevin Eltife, A&M chairman Robert Albritton and Texas Tech chairman Cody Campbell's terms are all up in February 2027. All three heavily involved in college athletics at those schools.

Also applies to senior professors…
I keep thinking of this line from Zohran Mamdani's long NYT interview earlier this year: "I think the point of political capital is to spend it to deliver material change."

HIRE TWENTY TENURE-TRACK GENDER STUDIES PROFESSORS IN TEXAS FUCKING TOMORROW

The abundance of people forcefully defending immigrants, professors, transgender Americans, federal workers, and everyone else Trump was attacking WERE PRACTICING POLITICS THE RIGHT WAY, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Big news for USG professors, staff, and students. A whole new reality.
The new Democratic governor of Georgia will have the opportunity to appoint something like 7 regents of the University of Georgia during her term and I hope that she replaces some of the current members with actual educators www.usg.edu/regents/memb...

Rutgers professors thought this possibility was funny 2 years ago. A big joke.

In my world: university presidents and trustees and the “heterodox” professors, some of the physician-pundits who played footsie with RFK Jr., the professional societies that remained silent.
Many people, institutions, and companies sacrificed their integrity because they thought Trump’s power grab was inevitably going to succeed and he’d be the American Orban.

Don’t forget their names.

And where will new professors come from without RAs. But clearly our institutions consider professors a nuisance and find this development a welcome excuse to stop pretending to care about that

Professors want Abbott and Paxton to know it was them.
Seeing Abbott and Paxton go down is so sweet.
November 4, 2026 at 4:07 AM
In the future, professors will be judged not by output but by their ability to care and nurture

This will be deeply unpopular in some quarters

It’s November 2026. The democrats sweep the midterms. The number one film in the country is a documentary. We are all liberal arts professors now. Don the tweed you cowards.

Also a big race for immigration law professors
Kris Kobach, one of the worst anti-trans attorneys general in in the United States, is getting crushed in the first set of results.

This guy was behind some of the ID revocations and the worst attacks on trans people in any state.

Incredible night for trans people.

New survey finds professors exhausted by relentless attacks, self-censoring on a wide range of issues including Israel-Palestine (45% say more than a year ago, and a year ago was pretty f*cking bad)

I say again these results are tangibly significant to professors in Texas, significantly more so for our colleagues at public universities
I will just say as a faculty member of a Texas public university

Oh THANK GOD 😅
