Whilst profitshifting alone is estimated to cost the UK £17 bn in lost corporationtax annually.
Tackle THAT and tax evasion first before stigmatising the poor ever more.
Inequality is increasing & it's unsustainable.
This country apparently has more foodbanks than branches of mcdonalds.
Shameful.

📢 2 vs. 24,000 #TaxHavens rob countries of vital funds. If the Netherlands stopped #ProfitShifting from Nigeria, 24,000 Nigerian children could attend school at the cost of education for just 2 Dutch children. This must change. #UNTaxConvention

Microsoft's Profit Shift to Low-Tax Countries Sparks Tax Controversy
The article discusses Microsoft's strategy of shifting profits to low-tax jurisdictions like Ireland and Luxembourg to minimize its tax liability. Despite employing only 3% of its global workforce in Ireland, the company reported nearly 40% of its pretax income there. In contrast, higher-tax countries like Germany saw minimal returns, with Microsoft earning less than 0.5% of its global profits. The EU's mandatory country-by-country reporting requirement revealed these disparities, prompting scrutiny from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, which is seeking $29 billion in back taxes. Microsoft disputes the IRS claims, arguing that tax contributions are just one measure of corporate responsibility. Comments section highlights broader issues of multinational tax avoidance, with critics accusing corporations of exploiting loopholes and lobbyists to shape favorable tax policies. The piece underscores the ongoing debate over fair taxation of global tech giants and their impact on public finances.
