so maybe this timeline sees Progressiveism as a Democratic 'thing', whenever a Dem like Bryan or Johnson or Hearst is elected in 1908 or what have you, while Republicans stay the party of conservative capital. (obviously we're doing some fiction here.)

I agree that socialism is a loaded term and I wish they would use something else. What is wrong with saying progressiveism? Or class equality?

Apparently there is a group of Democrats fighting progressiveism, and looking as if they were people trying to bring back the White Citizens Council. Putting minority rights on the back burner for public consumption during an election doesn't work. Anybody remember George Dukakis?

I do think a bit more Progressiveism these days would be good, though. Do you? I'm aware of the cyclicality of political movements, but today is the scariest in my lifetime.

The middle left is where progress has always been made. Progressiveism is where ideas go to die historically. This trend will continue indefinitely. Voting for a progressive is throwing a vote in the trash.

If a progressive candidate had an almost magnitude more money than a centrist in a high profile swing state statewide campaign and lost by thin margins the narrative would be that progressiveism is dead and needs to be cast off of the party lol.

That's complete misattribution. Israeli progressiveism has been shrinking for years. Completely independently of the western left. They're being eclipsed by the Haredim, and they don't have any major victories to point to within the last 25 years. The general public basically ignores them.

I suppose I don't really see the second panel as socialism. I see it more as progressiveism. There is a difference.
And yes, I did vote for Mandami. For his progressive ideas. Such as health care, social security, child care, education funding, gender and racial equality etc etc and etc.
